Slow is our approach to Life and Architecture

Slow represents our studio’s practice, where we pursue our greatest passion: designing spaces for a life

With over ten years of experience in Sustainable Architecture, Slow Studio places quality of life at the core of everything we do.

Our projects adapt to the lifestyle and specific needs of our clients, which we develop with passion, rigor, and innovation.

A Slow space is:

Zero energy
We reduce energy demand to operate solely on renewable sources.
Efficient
We employ bioclimatic architectural strategies to achieve a comfortable environment without energy consumption.
Healthy
We apply design criteria that ensure hygrothermal comfort and minimize electromagnetic pollution in the spaces.
Community and interaction
Flexible spaces that foster human interaction and accommodate multiple uses.
Toxin-free
Non-toxic, natural materials free of volatile organic compounds that ensure a healthy indoor environment.
Sustainable
We reduce the CO2 footprint at every stage of the project's lifecycle and follow local sourcing policies.
Renewable
We apply circular economy principles to ensure the longevity of built environments and their reuse or recycling at the end of their useful life.
Integrated into and adapted to its surroundings
We respect the natural environment of each of our projects, making decisions that minimize the impact on ecosystems.
Comfortable and durable
We shape flexible spaces that adapt to the changing needs of our society.

These exceptional environments require innovative architectural strategies that we constantly strive to improve.

Thanks to our in-house Slow Research team, our practice combines the principles of passive architecture with advanced technological solutions. To achieve this, we collaborate closely with Spain’s leading efficiency experts in the fields of energy demand calculation, systems optimization, structural dimensioning, and water and energy self-sufficiency management.

In summary, we believe that through architecture, we can significantly enhance people’s well-being and contribute to a better future.

BACKGROUND

Víctor Vergés and Jade Serra are the founders behind Slow Studio.

The couple shares three children and the conviction that architecture is compatible with a sustainable, family-oriented lifestyle. After learning from some of the best bioconstruction experts in Spain and Germany, their team has spent over a decade developing bioclimatic and healthy architecture projects, establishing itself as a leading studio in passive architecture and low environmental impact, for both single-family and multi-family residential projects.

In addition to its work as an architectural studio, the team recently launched Slow Living, a real estate development line through which they develop and market sustainable homes, maintaining the balance between design, health, and sustainability that defines their work.

Slow Studio combines the development of projects for private clients with internal research through Slow Research, a platform dedicated to the analysis and improvement of bioclimatic strategies and healthy construction systems, which allows the dissemination of knowledge acquired in the studio’s projects in a language accessible to the general public.

SERVICES

We analyze, design, and develop projects for clients ranging from real estate developers to families of all types and sizes seeking to build efficiently and healthily.

SLOW TEAM

We are a team of young professionals with extensive experience who share a passion for a slow lifestyle.

Beyond talent, rigor is an essential skill at every step of our work because we value collaborating with our clients for a comprehensive definition of their project. Meticulous development of each phase ensures the monitoring of budget, timelines, and client-studio communication, fundamental elements for sound decision-making throughout the process.

A Slow team is never complete without its collaborators. Our extensive experience in the field of Sustainable Architecture has provided us with the opportunity to build an exceptional network of efficiency and health experts, positioned among the best in our country, comprising professionals from the areas of:

We collaborate with various specialized engineering firms in building systems calculation, ensuring the reliability and compatibility of selected systems thanks to the prior experience of our technicians.

The conception of a building’s bioclimatic strategy from the initial phases is carried out together with the Societat Orgánica team.

We have several reference teams with whom we jointly carry out structural calculations to optimize costs, seeking the best technical solution for each terrain and construction system.

When working with complex projects or structures, it is essential to have an expert in acoustic engineering specializing in noise and vibration control on the team.

The management of water supply, reuse, and sanitation in a project is highly complex in both planning and dimensioning, requiring work with multiple data and variables. For this, we rely on Jochen Scheerer, a water resource management consultant on the Environtecnics team.

Undoubtedly, one of the most recognized experts in Spain in the field of bioconstruction is Maria Fígols, who contributes to the assessment of measurements and material selection for our projects, in addition to supporting the review and correction of Slow Research publications.

Several databases and complex software exist for calculating the ecological footprint of a construction project, which we utilize based on project complexity with the assistance of various reference consultants.

David Casas is a Geobiologist specializing in IBN-IEB environmental parameter measurements from the Institut für Baubiologie, Spanish Institute of Baubiologie, and a lecturer at various institutions.

Both the internal management of the studio and the management of complex projects are handled in collaboration with accounting and financial experts, enabling us to make accurate forecasts of project viability.

In Catalonia and the Balearic Islands, we work with our own team; for projects in Madrid, we collaborate with Andrés Martín from Equipo Aparejador.

The legal management of our firm is handled by Sainz & Raventós Abogados Economistas.

Their expertise is always of immense value to our projects and a true opportunity for everyone involved to continue learning and growing in each other’s disciplines.

WE COLLABORATE WITH

RESEARCH

At Slow Studio, we believe that sharing knowledge is what makes us human. That is why we are committed to creating a strong learning community.

We believe that openly discussing what we have learned while building efficient spaces and healthy environments can help current and future generations achieve a tomorrow where construction has a zero ecological footprint.
