Join a community of families driving their own sustainable building project
Our team feels a firm determination to work in accordance with our values. If we could not develop sustainable projects that respect the health of people and the planet, we would rather leave it all behind… perhaps to start a surf school.
And while this conviction has remained intact over the years, it is also true that our vision of sustainability has evolved with every new project.
It was no longer enough to apply environmental criteria to architecture: we felt the need to go further and also incorporate social and economic dimensions, with the aim of generating a greater impact on the well-being and health of people and the planet.
This is how Slow Living was born.
An initiative in which several families come together to promote their own building in strategic locations that guarantee a high quality of life, with strict bioclimatic and health criteria, and by eliminating the traditional developer’s margin. This facilitates access to sustainable, zero-consumption homes at an affordable price.
This project is possible thanks to our partnership with Olivé and Partners, a family-run real estate agency with whom we share values and a common vision of life and ecological awareness.
Together with them, we have selected two locations in Catalonia: one on the outskirts of Girona, in the town of Salt, and another in Vilanova del Vallès, where we are starting the development of two buildings with 30 and 26 homes respectively, with layouts of between 2 and 3 bedrooms.

We do not want to say goodbye without sharing, as usual, a review of the studio’s activity over the last few months. Here is a compilation of recent projects, research articles, and climate action in architecture.

(1) PROJECTS
We begin with the two featured projects mentioned:
- 30 homes in Salt. This building originates from a community of families self-developing their homes in an area undergoing residential development, near the new Dr. Trueta hospital complex on the outskirts of Girona.
- 26 homes in Vilanova del Vallès, located in the town center of a quiet, family-oriented locality, ideal for enjoying nature and community life. This building will include a number of social housing units.
We are also sharing an emblematic project that condenses years of research into healthy architecture and natural materials, which has been recognized for its innovation at a national level:
- Casa Serra d’Ordal, built with earth walls, a wooden structure, and cork insulation, this house has been recognized with the Catalonia Bioconstruction Award and the Catalonia Construction Award in the innovation category.
(2) OUTREACH
Children, with their developing bodies, are particularly vulnerable to indoor environmental conditions, such as air quality, materials, or environmental comfort. In one of our latest articles, we ask how architecture can contribute to the well-being and development of little ones, and how conscious design can make a difference in the early years of life.
We also present our selection of 10 essential reads on architecture, health, and climate change for 2025, a recommendation we share every year on the occasion of Sant Jordi.
(3) ACTION
Our climate action activity within architecture has intensified in recent months.
On one hand, we have begun a collaboration with the Ramón Esteve studio, which this autumn will offer a new professional master’s degree in architecture through its training platform, Archiff.
Next year, we will also become part of the teaching team at the La Salle URL School of Architecture, with our own subject on bioclimatism.
In parallel, we continue to participate actively in talks and events, both our own and representing AuS (Architecture and Sustainability Association of the Architects’ Association of Catalonia), where we are members of the board of directors.
Additionally, we have participated in two interviews on Catalunya Ràdio:
- One as Slow Studio, discussing healthy design, regenerative architecture, and our vision as a studio.

And we have carried out:
- The opening keynote at the Sustainable Innovation Forum of the Territorial Association of Architects of Valencia.
- A presentation on low-impact materials at the Materials Matter conference of the Architects’ Association of Catalonia.
- The debate at the EcoConstruye forum, organized by Grupo Vía as part of Construmat Barcelona.
