How many kg of CO2 does a building emit?

According to a study by Aalborg University, Denmark, the figure is between 600 and 1000 kg of CO2/m2 throughout its entire life cycle.
The latest IPCC report warns that global CO2 emissions must DECREASE BY AT LEAST 45% by 2030 compared to 2010 levels to mitigate the worst consequences of the CLIMATE CATASTROPHE.
WE NEED URGENT ACTION
It is URGENT to start regulating CO2 emissions in construction.
In Europe, some countries have taken the initiative. In Sweden, Belgium, Finland, and Switzerland, among others, it is already MANDATORY TO SUBMIT an LCA (Life Cycle Assessment) that includes the calculation of CO2/m2 emissions to obtain a building permit.
Furthermore, some of these countries already have emission limits and a plan for successive reductions to reach zero by 2050. If these CO2 limitations are exceeded, THE BUILDING CANNOT BE CONSTRUCTED.
In Spain, regulation regarding the calculation of construction emissions is non-existent.
That is why, from the AUS – Architecture and Sustainability Association – of the College of Architects of Catalonia, of which we are an active part, we are fighting for the DECARBONIZATION OF ARCHITECTURE.
After more than a year of research and joint work with administrations, we have organized a congress on November 17 where some of the leading sustainability experts in our country will speak about DECARBONIZATION.

We will discuss European roadmaps and call for the URGENT REGULATION of emissions in building construction in our country.
