Bioclimatic architecture featured on TV3’s La Selva

On July 14, the TV3 program La Selva, hosted by Xavier Grasset, dedicated a segment to reflecting on how our homes must adapt to the rising temperatures caused by climate change.

To illustrate the characteristics a home prepared for this new scenario should have, the program chose the House in Serra d’Ordal as an example—a Slow Studio project presented by Greta Treserra, a board member of AuS Architecture and Sustainability at the COAC.

During the segment, Greta Treserra explained that a large part of the current housing stock was built for a climate very different from today’s and advocated for the need to promote renovation strategies that improve building performance against heat.

The images of the House in Serra d’Ordal served to showcase some of the primary strategies of bioclimatic architecture. These include the use of natural materials such as wood and earth, which offer more balanced thermal performance, as well as the importance of incorporating external solar protection to prevent radiation from directly reaching the glass and causing a greenhouse effect inside the home.

We would like to thank TV3, the La Selva team, Xavier Grasset, and especially Greta Treserra, board member of AuS Architecture and Sustainability at the COAC, for their contribution to raising awareness about the importance of architecture capable of responding to the challenges of climate change.
