COMPETITION FOR 145 SOCIAL HOUSING UNITS LOCATED IN THE LLEVANT SECTOR OF VILADECANS.

The Metropolitan Institute for Land Promotion and Asset Management of Catalonia (IMPSOL) announced a competition in 2021 for the design of 145 public housing units with strict efficiency and sustainability requirements.

The program proposes a comprehensive analysis of the project, efficient energy management, water treatment, the use of low-impact materials, the achievement of excellent indoor environmental comfort, and compliance with strict sustainability criteria to achieve a reduced ecological footprint.

In terms of program, the building maximizes the buildable area, organized across four basement levels, a ground floor with residential units and commercial premises, and seven consecutive floors with three different housing typologies.

The floor plan typology allows us to utilize different construction systems, so we propose using a material with low embodied energy such as CLT wood to resolve the building’s main structure.

On the ground floor, there is a transition of materials to accommodate the parking area, where the structure is entirely resolved in prefabricated concrete.
