Finalists for the MARCH Materials Architecture Awards 2026

Our project Casa Montseny has been selected as a finalist for the MARCH Materials Architecture Awards 2026, an international competition that recognizes architectural projects committed to sustainability and the use of natural, circular, and low-environmental-impact materials.
Casa Montseny is a nearly zero-energy family home, designed using bioclimatic strategies that reduce energy demand and ensure healthy indoor comfort conditions throughout the year.
The project is organized around a central patio that functions as a bioclimatic greenhouse, allowing for solar gain during colder months and promoting natural ventilation in summer. The combination of thermal inertia, solar protection, and lightweight timber construction systems allows the home to adapt to the climatic conditions of the Mediterranean environment.
Regarding materials, the project combines compacted earth blocks with lime, a timber structure, and CLT floor slabs, along with natural finishes. These solutions contribute to reducing the environmental impact of construction and are part of an architecture that prioritizes energy efficiency, health, and integration with the landscape.
The MARCH Materials Architecture Awards aim to promote the use of sustainable materials in the construction sector and give visibility to projects that demonstrate how to integrate environmental criteria from the early stages of architectural design.
In addition to the awards granted by an international jury, the competition includes the People’s Choice Awards, where the public can vote for their favorite projects during November. The winners will be announced on December 15, 2026.
The project can now be viewed on the MARCH Materials platform, where it is presented along with the professionals and companies that participated in its development.
