We join the Materials and Sustainability working group

The new working group on sustainable materials and construction techniques of the Architecture and Sustainability association (AUS), led by Albert Sagrera from the consultancy Societat Orgànica and Oriol Roselló, founder of the Bangolo studio, pursues the following objectives:

“To promote the use of decarbonized construction materials, produced in a closed cycle and within territorial revaluation strategies; nature-based solutions that aim to replace the current model of polluting materials.

To revalue materials, construction techniques, and traditional and renewed strategies that aim for the real possibility of their daily use and their recognition and acceptance within a regulatory framework that has always been generated and directed towards industrial production.”

 

 

To this end, two lines of work will be addressed:

• The inclusion of greenhouse gas emissions—and other environmental impacts—in material information, their consideration and limitations within the CTE (Technical Building Code), the decarbonization trajectories they must follow, waste, etc.
• The recovery and implementation of traditional materials and techniques, understanding their integration into the technical framework of the sector—inclusion model in the CTE—.

 

 

The AUS Association, Architecture and Sustainability, of the Association of Architects of Catalonia, has a long history in the dissemination and promotion of sustainable architecture. With the new board created in 2021 and led by the architect, professor, and researcher Albert Cuchí, an expert in architecture and sustainability, the association has moved towards an action-based strategy with the aim of influencing various public and private stakeholders in the construction sector to move towards a sustainable and decarbonized scenario.
