The Ametlla House in EBOM Magazine

 

Slow Studio has been interviewed in issue 3 of EBOM Magazine, titled “The Sustainable House: Living Better Within the Planet’s Limits”. The publication focuses on our project, The Ametlla House, offering a detailed insight into how we approach the design and construction of conscious and sustainable homes.

In the interview, we share how we work alongside the family from day one, integrating their needs and values into the project. We explain how close collaboration with the inhabitants allows for more coherent architectural decisions, resulting in functional, flexible spaces adapted to daily life.

We also discuss our slow philosophy, applied to both the layout of the home and domestic life. We analyze how natural light, ventilation, the relationship with the landscape, and daily rhythms influence the comfort and well-being of those who inhabit the house. The interview delves into how these principles translate into concrete decisions, from the choice of natural materials to the optimization of built surface area.

Another highlight of the interview is our commitment to sustainability and energy efficiency. We explain how we adopt passive strategies, central courtyards as thermal regulators, and healthy materials to minimize the ecological footprint of the home, without compromising comfort or family life. We also address our perspective on house sizes and the concept of sufficiency, prioritizing functionality and respect for the planet’s limits.
