SLOW STUDIO IN THE BOOK OF THE 1ST SUSTAINABLE CONSTRUCTION CONGRESS

Slow Studio has been selected to be part of the Book of Contributions of the 1st Sustainable Construction Congress 2025, held in Madrid on May 29 and 30, 2025.

The event, promoted by the CSCAE 2030 Observatory and Saint-Gobain, brought together professionals, institutions, and companies from the building sector to discuss the challenges of decarbonization, the circular economy, and health in architecture.

Our contribution, titled “Casa en Serra d’Ordal: Zero Consumption, Zero Impact”, presents an experimental architectural model aimed at reducing carbon emissions and environmental impact through bioclimatic strategies and the use of low-ecological-footprint biomaterials.

The study details how a home can achieve nearly zero-energy building (NZEB) status without active climate control systems, using passive strategies, thermal mass, and natural ventilation. It also addresses the reduction of embodied carbon through the use of local and healthy materials, such as compressed earth blocks (CEB), natural cork insulation, or CLT wood structures, along with water management, circularity, and indoor comfort strategies.

The complete book of contributions, available on the official congress website, brings together selected works from firms, researchers, and entities that share the commitment to moving toward low-carbon, circular, and healthy construction.
