Housing debate at Sala Imagina Barcelona

On April 19, Jade Serra, partner at Slow Studio, was invited to take part in the session “Barcelona, ciutat d’acollida, integradora, cohesionadora i equitativa” as part of the “La Sala” programme, sponsored by Cosentino and Mónica Bonafonte, which aims to promote a debate forum driven by civil society to find solutions to the housing problem.

Slow Studio had the opportunity to take part in Session 2. Acolliment, integració, cohesió i equitat, alongside representatives from the architecture practices Carlota Casanova and Daniel Lorenzo of LoCa, Dídac Esteve of Esteve Arquitectos, Jaume Font of MESURA, Ivet Gasol of Cierto Estudio, Julia Goula of Equal Saree, from housing cooperatives, Paula Martí of Celobert, Daniel Molina of Som Hábitat, and Eduard Sala from the Cáritas Barcelona association.

The debate, hosted by Isabel Martínez Cosentino, Mónica Bonafonte and Jordi Montana, put forward solutions centred on the enormous potential of the city’s existing infrastructure to provide accommodation, through key measures such as making use of existing resources, repurposing disused buildings, and creating new management models that enable vacant homes to be brought back into use.
