Decarbonization Conference at the Cádiz College

On Friday, April 21, the Construction Materials Decarbonization Conference was held at the College of Architects of Cádiz, in which our partner Jade Serra participated as a speaker to discuss European decarbonization roadmaps in the online session.

The decarbonization of Architecture, which requires producing and maintaining socially necessary habitability without contributing to global warming, faces a decisive obstacle in the greenhouse gas emissions produced in the manufacturing of the materials we need to construct new buildings and for the necessary rehabilitation of the existing building stock. To what extent and why are these emissions limiting factors in the decarbonization process of our buildings in Spain? What are the decarbonization trajectories that manufacturers propose today? Are they credible? Are they sufficient? Is this decarbonization reflected in building regulations? Are there strategies in other countries? Can we use them? What alternatives exist? How can we apply them?

The Conference sought to address these questions through presentations by Dolores Huerta, architect and General Director of GBCE, Albert Sagrera, architect and member of AUS, Jade Serra, architect and member of AUS, and Mariana Palumbo, PhD Architect and member of AUS, all moderated by Albert Cuchí, PhD Architect and President of AUS.
