Training Course on Decarbonization of Architecture at COA Cádiz

On May 28 and 29, Slow Studio participated as teaching team in the Continuing Education Course “Natural Resources and Decarbonization of Architecture – Level 2: Decarbonization”, organized by the University Architecture Classroom of the University of Cádiz and the Official Association of Architects of Cádiz. The course is part of a specialization pathway that addresses the main challenges of decarbonization in the building sector and the transition towards low environmental impact architecture.

The program brings together some of the leading national experts in this field, including Albert Cuchí, a reference in sustainability advocacy for the sector and professor at ETSAV Barcelona University; Laura Reus and Albert Sagrera, partners at Societat Orgànica and vice president of AuS; and Jade Serra, partner at Slow Studio and vice president of AuS, responsible for the module dedicated to the decarbonization of construction materials.

During the sessions delivered by Slow Studio, members of the studio team also participated, providing a practical perspective based on projects developed in recent years.

Iván Lozano presented various Slow Studio case studies, explaining how bioclimatic architecture criteria, embodied carbon reduction, and passive design are materialized in real projects. Through built examples, he presented project decisions related to orientation, construction systems, material selection, and environmental efficiency strategies.

Laia Montserrat addressed various success cases related to construction industrialization, showcasing real experiences in which industrialized systems have improved execution quality, optimized construction processes, and contributed to reducing the environmental impact of buildings.

This collaboration reinforces Slow Studio’s commitment to research, education, and knowledge transfer, contributing to disseminating tools and methodologies that enable accelerating the transformation of the building sector towards more environmentally responsible models.
