On October 21, the fourth edition of Decarbonising Architecture took place at the Col·legi d’Arquitectes de Catalunya (COAC), an annual event promoted by the COAC, the Higher Council of the Associations of Architects of Spain (CSCAE) and the Architects’ Council of Europe (ACE-CAE), with the support of the Architecture and Sustainability Group (AuS).

The conference, presented by Francesc Mauri, a geographer and meteorology expert, once again brought together professionals, institutions, and leading firms committed to transforming the sector towards carbon-neutral, healthy, and socially responsible construction.

In this new edition, focused on current challenges towards carbon-neutral building, Slow Studio was part of the event’s driving group, reaffirming our commitment to responsible and regenerative architecture.

Our partner Jade Serra participated in the session The “New” New Build with a presentation titled “Bioclimatic Design at the Single-Family Scale,” alongside Jesús Alonso i Figueras, founder and technical director of ALFI biocons SL. In her intervention, Jade presented passive design strategies, the use of biomaterials, and bioclimatic solutions as essential tools for reducing the carbon footprint in single-family homes.

Additionally, Jade Serra was part of the final panel discussion, where various professionals in architecture and sustainability debated the sector’s challenges in scaling sustainable solutions without compromising architectural quality.

At Slow Studio, we continue to drive change towards low-carbon building, promoting conscious design as a way to address the climate emergency.

We will share the full event video in the coming days.
