Technical Information Session on the EPBD at COA Cádiz

On Tuesday, May 28, the highly successful technical information session “Challenge of Transposition in Spain” was held at COA Cádiz, focusing on the approval of the new Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD) by the European Parliament on Tuesday, March 12, 2024, which advances objectives and instruments to achieve decarbonization of the building sector by 2050.
The session began with an institutional introduction by the Dean of COA Cádiz, Paula Vilches, who welcomed attendees and presented on how the new EPBD will transform our professional practice in the coming years.
Greta Tresserra, Vice President of AuS Arquitectes, delivered a presentation on the contents of the new version of the EPBD; Licinio Alfaro from ITEC presented the Global Warming Potential (GWP), while Albert Cuchí, President of AuS, emphasized the importance of renovation with tools such as the renovation passport and digital registry. Jade Serra, as board member of AuS Arquitectes and representing Slow Studio, explored the use of low environmental impact materials for decarbonized architecture.

The session concluded with a roundtable discussion in which the speakers debated the challenges and opportunities that the new EPBD presents for architects.
