Participation in the 2nd Catalunya Circular Congress

On Tuesday, June 11, Jade Serra participated in the 2nd Catalunya Circular Congress as a partner at Slow Studio and also as a member of the Gremi de Bioconstrucció de Catalunya, where she serves as vice president.

Within the Construction Sector session of the Catalunya Circular Congress, Jade opened the session with an introduction to sustainable construction, bio-construction, and their challenges. She then moderated a round table on the challenges and opportunities of sustainable construction with Toni Escudé from 011H, Albert Sagrera from AuS, Laura Silva from ITeC, Alfons Güell from Recursos Urbanos, and Cristina Sendra from EIG/Construcia.

The panel addressed how the construction sector must work to ensure a future scenario in which the finite minerals and metals available on the planet form part of a closed loop, rather than a predatory logic where they are used and discarded as waste.

It also explored how biomaterials such as earth, wood, or fibers must play a primary role in this new construction, as they are the main tool available to reduce the environmental footprint of the building industry.
