According to the World Health Organization (WHO) and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), indoor air can be two to five times more polluted than outdoor air. This often invisible reality has a direct impact on health and underscores the need for architecture aimed at creating healthier indoor environments. <\/p>\n

The 3Cat program Tot es mou, presented by Helena Garcia Melero, this week premiered a segment on architecture with communicator and architect N\u00faria Moliner, where this topic was addressed. To illustrate the importance of healthy architecture, Slow Studio’s Casa en Serra d’Ordal<\/a> project was presented, an example of how housing can become a space that protects and improves the health of its occupants. <\/p>\n

Elena Codina Sampera, pediatric nephrologist and head of the Environmental Health Unit at Hospital Sant Joan de D\u00e9u, also participated in the conversation, emphasizing the importance of addressing indoor air quality, especially in maternal and child environments. Codina presented the AYRA project, developed with Domestic Data Streamers and in collaboration with ISGlobal, which aims to monitor air quality and the characteristics of homes where children live, becoming a preventive health tool. <\/p>\n

This debate comes at a key moment: in 2026, Barcelona will be the World Capital of Architecture, an opportunity to give visibility to projects and initiatives that connect health with the design of the spaces we inhabit.<\/p>\n
